and I am frustrated BEYOND belief. His case worker is on vacation and no one is handling things while she is gone? really? So this little one is in limbo? I've even tried the state's Department of Social Services and no one there had a clue. I just don't get it. It is terribly frustrating.
I have learned that when we find a child we are interested in, we need to act quickly, email is no longer a quick enough option, phone calls need to be made, but there is no one taking calls on behalf of this sweet boy??? Oh, governmental bureaucratic BS, get out of my way! I'm an expectant mother!

This is going to sound so weird, and maybe it is just in my state (I hope so, cause it's stupid). But here, when you find a child you are interested in adopting, if you contact the childs casewoekr without going through the "proper channels", you can be taken out of consideration as an adoptive match for that child. Stupid huh?
oh man, that's just not right! If the child's caseworker is listed, I'm calling. Our social worker has never told me otherwise. I'm just trying to cut through. I want to know if we can have our home study submitted. I know when I called another state, I was told that I could not speak to the kids case worker, that only my case worker could talk to the kid's caseworker, so I know it's out there, but I could still inquire about weather or not they were still accepting home study reports.
I got another "those children are no longer available" call today from an online inquire I did a few weeks ago. That's just too long. Now I'm calling first!
I'd keep at then until you're told differently. Seems like the only way to get anything accomplished is to try and get it done yourself. I know if one more person tells me "it's a process" I'm gonna... well... I don't know yet. But when I think of something they better watch out. :)
It's insane how competitive this process is. I saw this little guy yesterday and my hubby and I submitted our home study. They wouldn't provide additional details, again, without a home study submission. Best of luck to you.
Anon- it is our belief that the right child will be matched with the right parents. Best of luck to you too :)
Julie -- We absolutely agree... I realize that my prior comment wasn't sensitive. I've read about your frustrations with the process and we feel the same way. There seem to be a few differences in the child(ren) we are looking for and there are many differences in the path that brought us to this point, but we are in this together. Truly, best wishes to you and your family.
How cute!
Yeah...our case worker is on vacation right now too and it's killing me. Argh.
And yes, I too have learned you have to act fast.
according to NC he was adopted before his photo was even placed on the internet! what in the WORLD!!!!!
Anon - were you the lucky ones who got to adopt Nathan?
