bad news . . . again

Just found out we were not chosen to parent the baby due December 20. We were really hoping.

Well, we really hope for EVERY child, but particularly this one. The birth mom is in our state.

It is difficult to find the courage to go on, but we will. We want a family more than anything else in the world.

We will find our child/children.

Yes, you will. As they say, everything happens for a reason. So sorry you have to go through this.

Julie, I just started reading your blog, so I haven't gotten the entire background story. With that said, I just wanted to say - stay strng and believe that it will happen - easy to say? Well, I was married for 10 years, dealt with 5 miscarriages (at least that we know of) fertility drugs - all the hell that goes along with it. We were frustrated and discouraged. I got a call from our state agency (I knew the director) and they asked us to consider foster to adoption. Long (approx 1yr for each child)story short - we have had our to girls for 4 & 5 years now. They are not what my I thought my family would look like - I am caucasian, my husband is caucasian/hispanic - my eldest daughter is black and my youngest is mixed. We overcame a lot of hurdles for them - preconceived notions of what it would be like to have a trans-racial adoption, would our family accept a child of color? going to court every month. In the end, they are the light of our lives - so worth it. The thing that helped us the most was getting involved immediately with "the system". Join a foster/adoption support group. If you are working with a state agency - network - you do not have to accept a sub-par case worker.
There is much I would love to share with you, if you would like. I can be reached via email at pcrewsvaldes@yahoo.com. (Your email link doesn't work for my yahoo account.) If you would like to see pics of my girls - go to my blog (I haven't really done anything with it, but there are a few pics). It is: samierra's quest.

Keep the faith and God Bless.

I am so sorry. We found out last week that the baby we knew about for over 5 months was not going to be raised by us. It is hard, it really is. Keep your chin up!

Julie:

The relentless disappointments understandably will make you want to give up. Simply say, I am not destined to be a mom. But the next day, you are right back at it - searching because nothing is more precious than a childs love.

Julie, did you see these cuties? http://www.nwae.org/c7633-34.html
My husband and I were on our way to adoption and the birthfather lawyered-up and we had to give our baby up after 3.5 months. We are totally heartbroken. Please make sure that you only take-in a child if they have no contact with adults in their birthfamily. I know it sounds like it could be nice if they do, but that can bite you in the rear.

Yes, the reality of what Anonymous just said is all too true. It is amazing how many rights the birth parents have, even after they sign papers.
