For us the moment came when we realized the fertility process was costing us more emotionally and financially than we could ever recover.

And our baby, is no less our baby because I did not give birth to her. I really worried about it too. I thought that if we adopted a baby, especially one of a different race, all I would see is difference, because that's what I saw with other adoptive couples. It is so totally different I can't even tell you...

For us, it was when it had emotionally drained me and I told my husband I just can't suffer anymore miscarriages. Fortunately for me, he didn't blink and said, "We'll just adopt". Because he was so certain it was what we were meant to do, it made it that much easier on me. I am now thankful for the inability to birth children. I never would have received the gift of my boys.

We didn't go through infertility; we decided on adoption due to some medication I have to take that causes birth defects. Adoption was my husband's idea and pretty much a no-brainer. Please hang in there; it may come any day now. We were notified that we were selected for our child 36 hours before we received our son. He is hispanic and we are caucasian and he is such a beautiful little baby (now 15 weeks old)... we were actually looking for a toddler. The only hurdle now is whether the birth father will get his act together. There's a chance we could lose him.

It is definitely a huge decision to make that leap into adoption. It took us years to decide. Now I wish we hadn't waited so long. :(
